I like this book, I like Rani's story. But I can't understand  adoption and real parents. Rani's parents died when she was only a baby but Rani has parents now. I feel confused.

Murdoch, Rani's father, found Rani at the edge of the reef and adopted her. That's the story says.

Mum tell me that there are another mermaid and merman are Rani's real parents. Mum says they are the person who ought to go to hospital and birthed Rani. But this two person died. No one care about Rani until Murdoch found her and adopted her.

Is it something like 汶川孤儿? If it is, I think Rani is lucky. She has parents now and she has Morva to be her teacher. At the end of the story, with help from Morva, Rani finds her grandparents and her twin brother.

But I still feel something odd.
